My journey into the field of Occupational Therapy began during my freshman year of college when I volunteered at a local hospital. Witnessing the incredible work of the OTs I encountered, I was struck by the unique and meaningful nature of their profession. Despite the challenges of OT school, I persevered and successfully completed my education. My initial foray into the field led me to my first job at a local hospital, where I primarily worked with adults and seniors.

As my career evolved, I transitioned into the school system, where I have now dedicated over two decades. Within this setting, I’ve had the privilege of assisting a diverse range of students, supporting them in accessing their educational environments and curriculum. Along this journey, I developed a deep appreciation for assistive technology and its transformative role in enhancing students’ independence and overall functioning.

My approach to Creating Resources

I create resources from an OT lens, focusing on building skills along a developmental trajectory to support children’s participation in meaningful activities. Resources are designed to be fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate, so kids can practice and strengthen skills they’ll use both in and out of the classroom.

My Approach to Assistive Technology

I use assistive technology every day, whether it’s waking up with an alarm, using a timer while cooking, or relying on text-to-speech to review emails and papers. Assistive technology has made my daily life easier and was especially valuable when I returned to school as an adult, helping me with papers and discussion questions. I’ve seen firsthand how practical and empowering AT can be, which is why I’m passionate about advocating for its use. I want to share the benefits of assistive technology with others and show how it can make everyday tasks more manageable and accessible.
